General

Is the Garrison a gun range?

No. Our ranges are only suitable for archery, axe and knife throwing. If you are looking for a gun range, you should check out the Guelph Rod and Gun Club, Shooter's Choice, or any other local firearms club.

What do I need to bring with me?

Nothing but yourselves! If you have your own equipment, you are free to bring it with you. Just be sure to check our current equipment restrictions before you do.

What should I wear?

You must wear closed-toed shoes while you are on the range.

Otherwise, wear something that is comfortable for you. Avoid wearing tight clothing, high-heeled shoes, puffy coats, draping scarves, ties, large necklaces, or other clothing that could interfere with your ability to participate in the activities.

What are the age limits?

The minimum age restrictions are as follows:

  • Archery: 6

  • Private Archery Lessons: 6

  • Group Archery Lessons: 8

  • Throwing: 12

Can I leave my child alone at your facility?

No. Unless they are registered and participating in either group archery lessons or camps, all youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

I have never done this before. Will you teach me how to do it?

Absolutely! Regardless of which activity you are participating in, we will teach you everything you need to know before you begin. This includes a full safety briefing on how to safely handle the range and equipment, as well as a basic lesson on how to throw or shoot. For more in-depth learning, consider taking one of our group or private lessons.

Do you sell equipment?

We do sell some equipment, though our selection is limited to traditional supplies and beginner recurve bow kits. Most of the equipment on-site is for display only.

When you purchase a bow kit from us, we will need to take a few key measurements including your height, arm span, and draw length. You will then be able to test out a few bows in different draw weights from our armoury, and provide feedback as to which ones you preferred. Once we have figured out your ideal bow size and poundage, you will then be able to choose a style of bow from those on display.

After ordering, your bow kit will take between 1–2 weeks to arrive at the Garrison, at which point we will contact you in order to pick it up. When you arrive, we will walk you through the initial setup of your new kit, as well as show you how to use and maintain it properly.

If you are interested in purchasing a bow kit from us, feel free to stop by during our walk-in hours or send us an email.
